Georgian artists in Turin art residences

A Memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, to further enhance friendly relations and improve the prospects of cooperation between the two countries.

The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia -Mikheil Batiashvili, and the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - Enzo Moavero Milanesi.

Creative Georgia in collaboration with Italian fond IGAV announced competition – “Residences for young Georgian artists”.

Creative Georgia received 23 applications and 20 applicants from them moved on the second stage. 2 young Georgian artists: Manana Kobakhidze and Shota Aptsiauri became winners and are going to Turin, Italy, in artists residencies for 1 month, from November 1st to November 30.

Professionals working in field of modern visual art and managers were members of commission of competition: Ana Riaboshenko (Director of Creative Georgia), Nino Choghoshvili (Deccan of faculty of restoration and history and theory of art at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts), Khatuna Kikvadze (head of administration of promotion of arts), Nikoloz Nadirashvili (Researcher of visual art), Rosabella Garuzzo (Founder and director of fond IGAV).

Purpose of one-month-long residences is to promote Georgian and Italian artist working in the field of visual art and help to exchange creative ideas between Italian and Georgian modern artists.

Exhibition of artworks of Georgian artists will be held on art exhibition- Artissima.

Exchange program for Georgian and Italian artists is realized with the generous support of Italian embassy in Georgia and Ministry of education, culture, science and sport of Georgia. Under the framework of the exchange program, Italian artists will visit Georgia in 2019.
